Accessibility Statement

Last Updated: August 2026

The Global HSI Equity Innovation Hub is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible digital experience for everyone who visits and uses the Virtual Immersive Platform (VIP). We believe that access to educational resources, programs, opportunities, and digital experiences should not be limited by ability or the technology someone uses to access them. Accessibility is therefore an ongoing part of how VIP is designed, developed, and maintained.

Our Accessibility Standard

VIP is being designed and developed with the goal of conforming to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.

These guidelines provide internationally recognized recommendations for making digital content more accessible to people with disabilities, including people with visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

Our accessibility efforts also support a better experience for users across different devices, browsers, technologies, and environments.

Accessibility in VIP

As VIP continues to develop, we work to incorporate accessibility throughout the design and development process. This includes attention to:

  • Keyboard navigation and focus visibility
  • Screen reader compatibility and semantic page structure
  • Alternative text for meaningful images and visual content
  • Sufficient color contrast and readable typography
  • Responsive layouts across supported screen sizes
  • Reduced-motion preferences where animation or motion is used
  • Accessible forms, buttons, links, and other interactive components
  • Clear headings, labels, instructions, and navigation
  • Captions, transcripts, or other alternatives for multimedia content when applicable

Third-Party Content and Services

VIP may include links to, integrations with, or content provided through third-party websites and services.

While we aim to select and use services that support accessible experiences, the Global HSI Equity Innovation Hub does not control the accessibility of third-party platforms or content.

If you experience an accessibility issue with a third-party service accessed through VIP, we encourage you to contact us so that we can better understand the issue and, where possible, help identify an alternative way to access the information or service.

Downloadable Resources

VIP may provide downloadable resources, including documents, presentations, media, project materials, and other digital assets.

Because some resources may be contributed by external partners, institutions, programs, or project teams, the accessibility of individual downloadable materials may vary.

We are committed to improving the accessibility of resources provided directly by the Global HSI Equity Innovation Hub and to encouraging accessible practices for materials shared through VIP.

If you encounter a resource that you cannot access, please contact us. When reasonably possible, we will work with you to provide the information in an accessible format or identify an appropriate alternative.

Known Limitations

VIP is an evolving platform. Some content, experimental experiences, immersive media, legacy materials, third-party integrations, or downloadable resources may not yet fully meet our accessibility goals.

We continuously work to identify and address accessibility barriers as the platform grows.

Known accessibility issues may be prioritized based on their impact, frequency, technical complexity, and the availability of accessible alternatives.

Testing and Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing process rather than a one-time review.

As VIP evolves, our team will continue evaluating the platform through development practices, accessibility testing, user feedback, and periodic review.

New features and significant changes to the platform will be evaluated with accessibility in mind as part of the design and development process.

Accessibility Feedback

We welcome feedback about the accessibility of VIP.

If you experience difficulty accessing content, using a feature, navigating the website, or downloading a resource, please contact us and provide as much information as possible, including:

  • The page, resource, or feature you were trying to access
  • The accessibility barrier you encountered
  • The browser or assistive technology you were using, if relevant
  • Your preferred method of receiving the information or assistance

Contact Us

For accessibility questions, feedback, or requests for assistance, please contact:

Global HSI Equity Innovation Hub California State University, Northridge Email: [Accessibility/Hub Email] Website: [VIP Website URL]

We will make reasonable efforts to respond to accessibility concerns and provide access to requested information or services.

We may update this Accessibility Statement as VIP evolves, accessibility standards change, or our practices and technologies are updated.
