Terms of Use

The Virtual Immersive Platform (VIP) connects students, educators, institutions, and communities with educational resources, programs, projects, innovation opportunities, and other materials supported by the Global HSI Equity Innovation Hub.

VIP includes public informational pages, program information, educational resources, and downloadable content.

Additional features and services may be introduced as VIP evolves.

You may use VIP for lawful educational, informational, research, professional, and other purposes consistent with the mission of the Global HSI Equity Innovation Hub.

You agree not to use VIP in a way that:

• Violates applicable laws, regulations, or university policies
• Interferes with the operation, availability, or security of VIP
• Attempts to gain unauthorized access to systems, accounts, data, or infrastructure
• Introduces malicious software, harmful code, or other technologies intended to disrupt the platform
• Uses automated systems to access the platform in a manner that places an unreasonable burden on its infrastructure
• Misrepresents your affiliation with the Global HSI Equity Innovation Hub, California State University, Northridge, or another organization
• Infringes the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of another person or organization
• Uses VIP or its resources for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or harmful activities

Content available through VIP is provided primarily for educational, informational, and program-related purposes.

We make reasonable efforts to provide accurate and useful information. However, content may change over time and may not always be complete, current, or applicable to every situation.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, content provided through VIP should not be interpreted as professional, legal, financial, medical, or other specialized advice.

VIP may provide downloadable educational materials, project outputs, grant resources, presentations, documents, media, software-related files, immersive assets, and other digital resources.

Access to downloadable content does not automatically grant unrestricted rights to reproduce, modify, redistribute, publish, sell, or otherwise reuse that content.

Individual resources may be subject to:

• Copyright protections
• Open-source or Creative Commons licenses
• Attribution requirements
• Third-party licenses
• Project-specific usage terms
• Other restrictions identified with the resource

Unless otherwise indicated, the design, organization, text, graphics, branding, and other original content presented through VIP may be protected by copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property laws.

Content contributed by partner institutions, faculty, students, grantees, community organizations, project teams, or other third parties may remain the property of its respective owners.

Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of intellectual property to visitors or users of VIP.

Permission to access content does not necessarily constitute permission to reproduce or redistribute it.

Please review our Copyright & Licensing policy for additional information regarding the use of materials available through VIP.

VIP may contain links to or integrations with third-party websites and services.

These may include platforms used for:

• Program registration
• Forms
• Innovation challenges
• Events
• Videos or other media
• External educational resources
• Partner programs and websites

Your use of VIP is also subject to our Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy explains the limited technical and operational information that may be processed when visitors access the platform and how that information may be used and protected.

VIP does not currently require an account to browse public content or access publicly available resources.

The Global HSI Equity Innovation Hub is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible digital experience.

VIP is being designed and developed with the goal of conforming to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.

Information about our accessibility practices, known limitations, and how to report an accessibility barrier is available in our Accessibility Statement.

We work to maintain the availability and reliability of VIP, but uninterrupted access cannot be guaranteed.

VIP or individual resources may occasionally become unavailable due to:

• Maintenance
• Technical problems
• Security incidents
• Infrastructure changes
• Updates to the platform
• Circumstances outside our reasonable control

VIP and its content are provided for educational, informational, and program-related purposes.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, VIP and its content are provided on an “as available” basis.

The Global HSI Equity Innovation Hub does not guarantee that every resource will be error-free, continuously available, appropriate for every purpose, or compatible with every device, application, or system.

Third-party and community-contributed materials available through VIP may represent the work and perspectives of their respective creators and do not necessarily represent the views of the Global HSI Equity Innovation Hub or California State University, Northridge.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Global HSI Equity Innovation Hub and California State University, Northridge are not responsible for losses or damages arising solely from reliance on third-party content, external services, or the use or inability to use resources made available through VIP, except where responsibility cannot legally be excluded or limited.

Nothing in these Terms of Use is intended to waive, restrict, or modify any rights, protections, immunities, or limitations available to California State University, Northridge or its affiliated entities under applicable law.

VIP is an evolving platform, and these Terms of Use may change as new features, programs, and services are introduced.

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to VIP functionality, available resources, institutional requirements, legal or regulatory requirements, security practices, or platform policies.

The Last Updated date at the top of this page indicates when these Terms were most recently revised.

Future versions of VIP may introduce user accounts, authentication, challenge participation, team collaboration, submissions, file uploads, personalized dashboards, administrative workflows, and other interactive functionality.

Those features may require additional terms governing matters such as account responsibilities, eligibility, challenge participation, submissions, intellectual property rights, content licenses, and review processes.

These Terms of Use will be updated or supplemented as appropriate before those features are made available.

Use of VIP is subject to applicable federal and state law and applicable California State University and California State University, Northridge policies.

Nothing in these Terms of Use is intended to supersede requirements imposed by applicable law or university policy.
